Red, White & Bluegrass Festival
Independence Day Weekend
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
July 4th is just around the corner
Now is the time to make your plans and join us in Virginia’s Wine Country
for a weekend of Independence Day festivities!
Pippin Hill is famous for reds, whites, and even pinks. But on the fourth of July, it’s all about the red, white and blue. We will be celebrating the holiday all weekend long with the release of our Chardonnay Reserve, a featured menu item of Grilled Calamari, and live music from the Willow Branch Bluegrass Band.
New Wine Release: Chardonnay Reserve
On Friday, July 4th we will be releasing our Chardonnay Reserve!
For our Chardonnay Reserve we take our inspiration from Burgundy winemaking technique, including longer aging in 33% new French oak, frequent lees stirring, and partial malolactic fermentation. The result is a wine with deep golden color and complex aromas of toasted brioche, poached pear and baking spice. There is a roundness to texture and richness to the mouthfeel that sets it apart from the rest of our whites. While there are fruit flavors of apricot and pear, we also find a touch of honey and a pleasing nuttiness in the finish.
Featured Food & Wine Pairing:
Grilled Calamari with Chardonnay Reserve
All weekend long, we will be featuring the Grilled Calamari paired with our Chardonnay Reserve. This dish incorporates simple components enabling naturally rich flavors to emerge with tremendous flavor. These flavors play off traditional Spanish cuisine with tastes of salsa verde, cilantro and cannellini beans.
The grilled calamari is light and delicate with overwhelming depth of flavor, the ideal pairing with our Chardonnay Reserve.
From our Executive Sous Chef Bill Scatena:
“Summertime is upon us. At Pippin Hill, we focus on flavors that enhance, yet embrace the season. As any Charlottesville native knows, summer in Virginia is hot & humid. So, in observation of the warmer weather, our culinary team is challenging the heat of the summer with exciting flavors for your afternoon lunch.”
Live Bluegrass Music – Sunday, July 6, 2-5:00 PM
